Sing Along with Voki

Radio has always used theater of the mind to fire up the imagination of its listeners. Now, two of the nation’s largest groups, Entercom Communications and CBS Radio, have begun to extend that concept to a handful of station Web sites by experimenting with Oddcast’s new Voki platform, allowing Web users to create speaking avatars.

Entercom, which uses the Voki platform as an integral content element on five station sites, plans to double that number in coming weeks. CBS Radio used the Voki platform to stoke the rivalry between fans prior to the Super Bowl on New York’s WFAN-AM and Boston’s WBCN-FM. It plans to employ a similar strategy in March for the NCAA basketball tournament.
